Guest books have been a long-standing tradition in the wedding industry. There is nothing better than reading sweet gestures or notes from loved ones at your wedding. In recent years, couples are choosing to be more creative with their guest books. Some popular new ways to record messages from loved ones is through messages on the back of polaroid photos, voice messages on old-fashioned telephones, messages on postcards, signing a photo or welcome sign, or signing a Jenga piece as seen here.

The décor on your wedding cake can really help tie in your wedding theme at the venue. More couples are choosing to incorporate more colour in their wedding designs and the cakes are reflecting this. Here at The Lake House, our pastry chef offers a wedding cake add on package for our couples getting married on site. Skip the hassle of bringing your cake the day of the wedding and have it already waiting for you when you arrive.

Traditionally, it was common to see all bridesmaids in the same colour and style of dress. In 2023 we saw a lot more mismatched dresses that followed a similar style or colour palette. This trend is predicted to continue in the coming years as it allows the bridesmaids to pick colours and shapes that showcase their personalities. The most popular colours on trend are neutral browns and earthy tones such as oranges, greens, blues, pinks, etc.

Your ceremony aisle will be your first big appearance to your guests and partner. How the aisle looks and feels will be showcased in emotional wedding photos. In 2024, experts are saying statement aisle décor and entrances will be a big trend in the years to come. According to Vouge, some brides are opting to walk halfway down the aisle solo before being greeted by their mother or father. This entrance requires a longer aisle and sets the tone for a memorable ceremony. At The Lake House there are several ways couples can enter the ceremony making it a more personalized experience than some other traditional wedding venues.

Wedding photography styles have changed heavily over the last decade. Traditionally, couples chose to have lots of unnatural posed wedding photos. In recent years, we have seen photography change to a candid style with natural light. The purpose of candid style photos is so the photographer can capture the day with minimal interruption or direction. Another popular style we have seen is the blur-motion photography to capture movement. Here at The Lake House, there are so many photo opportunities both inside and outside to help showcase your big day.
