Join Us For Beer Pairings On The Lake
The Lake House, Born Brewing and The Establishment Brewing have teamed up to bring you an engaging evening of food and beer. You can expect four delicious courses prepared by Chef Gareth Colville of The Lake House each paired with beer from one of the breweries. Erin, co-founder of Born, and Travis of The Establishment will be on hand to walk you through each pairing, beer making and beer tasting.
To complement the evening, guests will be able to enjoy the stunning lake views while perched above Lake Bonavista. There are only 40 tickets available for the engaging evening of food and libations. Tickets can be purchased online through the Eventbrite link below.

Tasting Notes:
- Auburn colored ale. Toasted malt-forward characteristics, and a subtle caramel flavour define this well-balanced beer.
Born Brewing Co. – Earl’s Ale – Earl Grey Tea Ale
ABV 6.0%
Malt: 2 Row, Vienna, Wheat
Hops: Simcoe
Tasting Notes:
- A light and refreshing ale with subtle bergamot flavours and aromas of passion fruit and vanilla, the addition of tea leaves creates a slight perceived sweetness. (Tea from the Tea Trader in YYC – Eight Bells Earl Grey).
The Establishment Brewing Co. – My Best Friends Girl Kolsch
ABV 4.8%
Malt: Pilsner malt, malted wheat
Hops: Magnum, Hallertauer Mittlefruh, Tettnang
Tasting notes:
- Aroma: Medium-low noble hop character (grassy, herbal), medium low bready and grainy Pilsner malt, low pomme fruit (apple/pear, a touch more apple)
- Appearance: Brilliant clarity, light yellow, bright white head of fine bubbles with excellent retention
- Flavour: Low grainy malt, light grassy/herbal hops, with a low bitterness to balance. Low apple/pear ester.
- Mouthfeel: Medium-light body, medium carbonation, smooth, no astringency. Clean finish, with a bit of lingering malt character.
The Establishment Brewing Co. – Sky Rocket VI
ABV 7.3%
Malt: Origin Pilsner, flaked wheat, flaked oats, malted wheat, CaraPils
Hops: Sabro, Vic Secret, Mosaic, Citra, Centennial, Amarillo
Tasting notes
- Aroma: Medium-high tropical fruit (unripe mango, pineapple, papaya), low citrus (tangerine), light wheat-like malt character, low floral/perfumy esters/alcohol? Turkish delight?
- Appearance: Light yellow/dark straw, a fluffy white head with good retention, opaque, good lacing on the glass.
- Flavour: Medium-high tropical fruit (mango, pineapple), sweet orange/tangerine, light wheat-like malt, a bit honey-like. Bitterness is medium low and carries slightly into the finish. A touch of alcohol present.
- Mouthfeel: Medium-full body, medium carbonation, smooth and fluffy.
